Privacy
The short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from anyone else. The only personal information involved is what you choose to send me.
Who is responsible
Shayan Ahmed, a freelance web developer working remotely. For anything on this page, or to ask me to delete what I hold about you, email shayankhattak250@gmail.com.
What this site collects automatically
Nothing.
- No cookies are set, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss.
- There is no Google Analytics and no other analytics of any kind.
- There are no third-party scripts, no advertising pixels and no embedded trackers. Every file the page loads comes from this domain, fonts included.
- Nothing is stored in your browser beyond what the browser caches to make the page load faster next time.
The practical consequence is that I have no idea who visits this site or what they look at. That is a trade I am happy with.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps short-term request logs that include IP addresses, as essentially every web host does. That is Vercel's processing rather than mine, it exists for security and reliability, and I do not use it to build any profile of you.
The enquiry form
The form on this site has no server behind it. When you press send, it assembles what you typed into a message and hands it to WhatsApp or to your own email program, where you can read it, change it, or decide not to send it. Nothing reaches me until you press send there.
If you do send it, I receive your name, your contact details and whatever you told me about your business. I use it to reply, to quote and, if we work together, to do the work. I keep it for as long as we are working together and for a reasonable period afterwards for tax and record-keeping, then delete it.
- A WhatsApp message travels through WhatsApp, which is run by Meta and has its own privacy terms.
- An email travels through your email provider and mine.
- I do not add you to a mailing list, I do not sell or share your details, and I do not pass them to anyone else unless the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask me what I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email me and I will do it, normally within a few days. If you are not happy with how I have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Client work
When I build or run a website for a business, any personal data on that site belongs to the business, not to me. I handle it only to do the work I have been asked to do, the accounts are in the client's name, and if we stop working together it all stays with them.
Changes
If I ever add analytics or anything that sets a cookie, this page changes in the same update and the site will say so plainly.
